Overview

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is the most comprehensive overhaul of America’s federal affordable housing programs in decades, making significant changes to existing programs and establishing new temporary pilot programs and policies, among other initiatives. During webinars in September and October, NCSHA members are invited to join our Policy and Government Affairs staffers and industry experts as they discuss the legislation’s potential impacts for HFAs and their partners.

Part I: Impacts for NCSHA Members | September 3, 3:00 – 4:15 pm ET

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act strengthens and modernizes many of the HUD and rural housing programs most important to state housing finance agencies and their partners. Delve into the Act’s major overhaul of the HOME Investment Partnerships Program; reforms to Rural Housing Service programs, including how decoupling rural rental assistance from the developments’ underlying mortgages could impact HFA priorities; and changes to Federal Housing Finance Administration policies and loan limits.

Part II: Key Pilot Programs | October TBD, 3:00 – 4:15 pm ET

Congress authorized numerous pilot programs in the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, allowing HFAs and their partners to test out new mechanisms for increasing the supply of affordable housing. Learn about the new programs likely to be most impactful for HFAs: the Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE), Whole Home Repair, and Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery programs.
