NCSHA Endorses Housing for the 21st Century Act
WASHINGTON, DC — The National Council of State Housing Agencies is pleased to endorse the Housing for the 21st Century Act and commends the leadership of House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-AR) and Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA) for advancing this critical bipartisan legislation that will modernize core housing programs, promote private investment in affordable housing, and reduce bureaucratic complexities.
In particular, NCSHA supports the HOME Reform Act, which is included in the larger Housing for the 21st Century legislation. The bipartisan HOME Reform Act, sponsored by Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Mike Flood (R-NE) and Ranking Member Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), will strengthen HUD’s flagship affordable housing production program: The HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
We urge the House of Representatives to advance this historic bill soon and coordinate with the Senate, which earlier this year passed its own comprehensive housing bill, on final legislation to strengthen our nation’s affordable housing programs and delivery system.
