AHFA Kids Releases New Children’s Content in Celebration of National Financial Literacy Month

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In observance of National Financial Literacy Month, the Alabama Housing Finance Authority (AHFA) has created new content for its AHFA Kids website.

In a new book and video, AHFA Kids mascot Bud and friends visit Gulf State Park, focusing on coastal conservation themes. While embarking upon eco-friendly adventures with sea turtles, sharks, alligators and more, they also learn to borrow, share, lend and care.

“These four key components are critical to smart money management,” said AHFA Executive Director Robert Strickland. “We believe it’s never too early to start teaching Alabama’s children how to understand and handle money.”

Downloadable coloring pages and activity sheets are available along with the new content at ahfa.com/ahfa-kids/adventures-with-annie-bud-videos-activities.

Strickland explained that the new content is just one part of an ongoing effort to promote wise financial decision-making.

“Financial literacy is more than a month to us,” he said. “At AHFA, we strive all year long to produce games, videos, classes and other activities to help our youngest citizens learn the valuable financial literacy lessons they’ll need to succeed as adults.”

AHFA, established in 1980 by an act of the Alabama Legislature, is a self-supporting public corporation dedicated to meeting the housing needs of the state’s low- to moderate-income citizens. Its programs have provided opportunities for more than 200,000 families to live in homes they can afford.
