Officials to Celebrate 280 Affordable Housing Units in West Louisville

FRANKFORT, Kentucky — State and local officials will gather in Louisville at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023, to celebrate the groundbreaking for The Eclipse, an affordable housing development in the Russell neighborhood on the city’s west side.

This project, tentatively scheduled to open in 2024, will include 84 one-bedroom, 112 two-bedroom, and 84 three-bedroom energy-efficient units that will enhance the affordable housing landscape in Louisville. The Eclipse will have a clubhouse outfitted with business and fitness centers, space for meetings and social gatherings, and a kitchenette, all of which were designed to foster community among residents and the local community.

“We are proud to be one of the organizations currently investing in Louisville’s west end,” said Winston Miller, chief executive officer and executive director of Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC). “In 2024, the Russell neighborhood will have a new hospital, a new Goodwill campus, and, with the Eclipse, 280 new affordable housing units. Taken together, these will have a profound impact on a neighborhood that has been historically under-resourced.”

KHC invested nearly $3.5 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and $43 million in tax-exempt bonds to construct these apartments. The project is being developed by LDG.
