Brandon Dettlaff

The North Dakota Industrial Commission appointed Brandon Dettlaff as executive director of the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) in June 2025. NDHFA provides affordable home financing to low- to moderate-income families and helps to ensure the continued availability of suitable rental housing for households of modest means while focusing on the overall housing needs of the state’s growing communities.

Dettlaff started his career at NDHFA in 2007 and throughout that time he has always been involved in some aspect of helping North Dakotans secure affordable housing. Dettlaff has held various roles at NDHFA including loan servicing coordinator and, most recently, homeownership director.

As homeownership director, Dettlaff led strategic partnerships with lenders and real estate professionals that enabled tens of thousands of North Dakotans to achieve homeownership through NDHFA’s homebuyer education, down payment and closing cost assistance, and affordable mortgage financing. During his tenure, NDHFA was ranked a Tier 1 Federal Housing Administration loan servicer by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s National Servicing Center and was named one of the Best Mortgage Companies to Work for by National Mortgage News. The agency has received both recognitions several years in a row.

Dettlaff holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the University of North Dakota and is a Certified Housing Development Finance Professional through Gro America.
