Catalina Vielma

Cat Vielma is Director of Acquisitions for Red Stone Equity Partners, LLC where she is responsible for the origination, structuring, and closing of affordable housing investments across the Great Lakes, Rocky Mountains, and Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Red Stone, Cat originated LIHTC investments for two other national syndicators, where she originated and closed over $250 million of equity – including permanent supportive housing, senior housing, rural developments, acquisition rehab, and HUD related preservation.
Prior to her roles as an equity originator, Cat was the Branch Chief for HUD’s Office of Recapitalization, where her team of underwriters was responsible for the majority of RAD transactions utilizing LIHTC. She managed RAD investments in El Paso, Baltimore, San Francisco, and dozens of other housing authorities across the country – totaling over $1 billion in project costs during the program’s infancy. Prior to her time at HUD, she was an underwriter at the National Equity Fund, where she assisted in closing over $2 billion in LIHTC equity.
Cat graduated from Williams College and is active on a number of affordable housing boards, including Illinois Housing Council, Mercy Community Capital, and Women’s Affordable Housing Network. She was selected as Affordable Housing Finance’s Young Leaders in 2018 and Novogradac’s Rising Stars in 2022 and lives in Evanston, Illinois with her family.
