Christine Mechtly

Christine Mechtly serves as the Deputy Administrator for Single Family Housing within the USDA Rural Housing Service.

She began her federal career in 1991 as a Staff Accountant in the Finance Office of the former Farmer’s Home Administration. Over the years, Ms. Mechtly advanced through the ranks – from a GS-7 accountant to a senior executive – holding numerous leadership roles across Rural Development. Her past positions include Deputy Administrator of the Customer Service Center, Director of the National Financial and Accounting Operations Center, and Director of the Servicing Office.

Ms. Mechtly holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern Illinois University and a master’s in business administration from Maryville University. She is also a proud mother of two: a first-grade teacher and an active-duty member of the United States Navy.
