Vanessa Barron-Washington

Vanessa Barron-Washington has enjoyed 30+ years as a professional in the Mortgage & Finance industries.  She started her career in financial management with an eight year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force before her honorable discharge from active duty in March, 1992.  After leaving the Air Force, she went on to join the management team of Shapiro & Burson, LLP, a once prominent Real Estate Law Firm located in Fairfax, Va.  There she managed the operational accounting needs for the firms’ staff and clientele of more than 120 lenders, investors and government insurers.  During her 14 year tenure with the firm, she advanced to the role of Director of Accounting & Loss Mitigation, responsible for developing and overseeing numerous Loss Mitigation processes designed to help struggling homeowners avoid the loss of their homes to foreclosure, bankruptcy or eviction.  

Her dedication to a career in mortgage & finance industries led to joining Freddie Mac in August, 2012 where she is currently a Senior Business Lead on the Servicing Relationship & Performance Management Team.  She whole heartedly embraces the mission to restore confidence in the stability and integrity of today’s housing market.  Her days are spent partnering with servicers throughout the lending community, both national and community based.  Through the training and coaching offered to Freddie Macs lending partners, and the monitoring of their performance, her role is critical to ensuring the effectiveness and success of numerous modification programs available to borrowers for the preservation of their homes.
