Brooke Smith

Brooke Smith is a Senior Manager in Fannie Mae’s Loan Sourcing Digital Solutions division. She is responsible for managing the DU validation service and other initiatives which leverage third-party data to streamline the underwriting process and improve opportunities for qualified homeowners. In this role Brooke identifies and implements innovations to digital solutions, maintains relationships with customers and external vendors, and coordinates external communications related to these solutions. The use of third-party data such as bank statements and verification of income documentation supports Fannie Mae’s mission of promoting homeownership by expanding access to credit. Brooke led the rollout of Fannie Mae’s Positive Rent Payment History initiative which considers a potential first-time homeowner’s rent payment history in the credit evaluation.
Before assuming her current role, Brooke managed solutions that enable lenders to deliver loans more easily to Fannie Mae. Prior to joining Fannie Mae in 2006, Brooke worked as a business consultant in the telecommunications, media, and financial services industries.
Brooke has a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Management of Information Technology from American University.
