Ian Goldfarb

Ian B. Goldfarb is an Attorney-Advisor in the Community Development Division of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of General Counsel (OGC), a position that he has held since 2017. In this role, he advises the Department on legal and transactional matters pertaining to the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program, the HOME-American Rescue Plan Program, the Housing Trust Fund Program, the Section 108 Loan Guarantee Program, the Title VI Loan Guarantee Program, the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970, and conflicts of interest. Prior to joining OGC’s Community Development Division, Mr. Goldfarb was a multifamily and healthcare closing counsel in the Los Angeles Field Office, and a policy advisor in the Department’s Office of Public and Indian Housing. In the latter role, Mr. Goldfarb led teams in the development of the Rental Assistance Demonstration and the 2015 Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule. Mr. Goldfarb began his career in the Department in 2009 after earning his Juris Doctor and Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of Florida. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, graduating with a B.A. with honors in Philosophy and History. Mr. Goldfarb is admitted to practice law in Florida.
