Valerie Terry

Valerie Terry is an experienced internal auditor at Utah Housing Corporation, where she has been driving audit excellence since January 2022. With over 15 years of prior experience at an independent state agency, her background spans accounting, actuarial analysis, underwriting, and internal audit—bringing a unique blend of technical depth and public sector insight to their current role.

Holding the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Internal Audit Practitioner (IAP) designations, Valerie brings a deep understanding of risk management, compliance, and operational efficiency. Her career reflects a commitment to integrity, analytical rigor, and continuous improvement in audit practices. She is an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and ISACA.

Driven by a belief that strong internal controls and ethical governance are foundational to solving complex challenges, Valerie is passionate about using audit as a tool for accountability, transparency, and positive change.

When not immersed in audit work, Valerie finds joy in the great outdoors – hiking, mountain biking, and running through Utah’s scenic landscapes. She shares these adventures with her husband and their three amazing boys, embracing every opportunity to unplug, explore, and recharge as a family.
