Kathie Soroka

Kathie Soroka is a partner in the Affordable Housing and Real Estate practice group at Nixon Peabody LLP. Kathie represents private and public organizations in complex affordable housing transactions, with a focus on helping parties navigate U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements.

During the Obama Administration, Kathie served as Senior Counsel to the General Counsel at HUD headquarters, where she helped develop the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), including drafting RAD guidance and program documents and training RAD legal counsel. Kathie started her legal career at Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen in Chicago representing developers and syndicators in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit transactions.

Kathie received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University. She serves on the board of directors for the Housing and Development Law Institute. Kathie is licensed in Illinois, New York and New Jersey.
