NCSHA Comments on SEC Concept Release on MBS Disclosure Requirements

On December 1, 2025, NCSHA submitted these comments in response to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) October 1 Concept Release soliciting input on potential changes to its disclosure requirements for mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and other asset-backed securities (ABS). In the letter, NCSHA urges the SEC to proceed cautiously when amending its regulatory definitions of MBS and ABS to ensure that the new definitions do not impose new regulatory requirements on HFAs and other municipal bond issuers. NCSHA also requests that the SEC exempt Mortgage Revenue Bonds (MRBs) from its Repurchase Request Disclosure Rule (Rule 15Ga-1).
