HOME Letter to Appropriators for FY27 Funding

On March 17, 2026, the NCSHA-led HOME Coalition sent this letter to the House and Senate Appropriations Committee leaders to express strong support for at least $1.5 billion in fiscal year 2027 funding for the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). The letter was signed by more than 500 national, state, and local groups. HOME is the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developmentโ€™s flagship affordable housing production program. As stated in the letter, HOME is one of the most effective and flexible tools states and localities have to meet their affordable housing needs, including rental home production and preservation, single-family home construction, homeowner rehabilitation, and tenant-based rental assistance. The letter argues, in the current economic environment, with housing costs historically high and low-income households suffering, it is more important than ever for Congress to provide significant resources for this essential program.
