Build Housing Affordably Act: Bill Text, One-Pager, and Section-by-Section Summary

The Neighborhood Homes Investment Act seeks to address the shortage of affordable for-homeownership housing through creation of a new Neighborhood Homes Credit โ€” a federal tax credit to incent new equity investment dollars for the development and renovation of one- to four-family housing in distressed communities by closing the โ€œvalue gapโ€ between the cost of rehabilitating or building a home and the post-construction value of the home. This new tax credit would expand the supply for affordable single-family homes, improve property values, increase family wealth, and decrease blight and abandonment in distressed neighborhoods.
