CHFA Announces 2021 Round One Housing Tax Credit Awards

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to announce 13 developments will be awarded a reservation of federal Housing Tax Credits to support the new construction of 882 affordable apartments. These developments will seek to address various housing needs in Colorado, including those of veterans, formerly homeless individuals and families, and older adults. CHFA received 25 applications for federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in its first allocation round of the year.

Revised FAQs on Emergency Rental Assistance Provide Guidance on Implementation of Second Round of Funding

The U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury) has updated its guidance on the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program, provided in a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document. The updated guidance includes some policy modifications impacting both the first round of ERA funding authorized last December under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (ERA 1) and the second round of ERA funding authorized in March under the American Rescue Plan Act (ERA 2), as well as certain new policies that relate only to ERA 2 implementation.Ā The guidance applying to ERA 2 only is reflective of the more flexible statutory language authorizing the second round of funding.

MassHousing has closed on $21.2 million in affordable housing financing to The Michaels Organization Ā for the refinancing and rehabilitation of the 201-unit Bergen Circle housing community in Springfield, where affordability will also be preserved for lower- and moderate-income residents. Michaels, which has taken over ownership and management of Bergen Circle, plans approximately $17 million in property renovations to the eight-building housing community in the McKnight neighborhood of Springfield.Ā 

Mainehousing Awards $3.2 Million to Address Youth Homelessness

MaineHousing has awarded $3.2 million to organizations to address youth homelessness in Maine. Vermont’s COVID Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program Re-Opens Next Week

The Vermont program that helps homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage or property taxes during the COVID-19 pandemic will re-open on Monday, May 3, 2021.Ā  The Mortgage Assistance Program, will provide grants covering up to 12 months of past due mortgage payments and property taxes for eligible homeowners. Funded through the federal CARES Act, the program operated first in July through December 2020, providing 636 Vermont households with grants averaging $6,000. With average monthly mortgage payments of $1,200, most of these households owed three months or more of payments and the majority were in a forbearance.
