SC State Housing Finance and Development Authority Names Bonita Shropshire as Executive Director

COLUMBIA, SC — On August 15, 2018, the Board of Directors of the SC State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC Housing) named Bonita Shropshire as the agency’s Executive Director. Shropshire had been serving as the agency’s Interim Executive Director prior to her appointment. She has been with SC Housing for almost a decade, understands the housing industry, the needs of the citizens it supports, and is well-versed in the business operations of SC Housing as a State Housing Finance Agency (HFA).

Shropshire’s leadership at SC Housing includes her tenure as Director of Executive Services, where she served in a Chief of Staff capacity. She is a known and trusted voice in the housing community, and her familiarity with the housing landscape has enabled the agency to strengthen its partnership with a broad group of community partners. Prior to joining SC Housing, Shropshire worked for the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Advocacy Center at the University of South Carolina and the Office of Retired U.S. Senator Fritz Hollings, where she engaged extensively with federal and state authorities.

Shropshire assumes her new leadership role at a time when access to affordable housing nationwide is at a crisis. SC Housing is a forward-thinking organization committed to making housing affordable on a broader scale by utilizing cutting-edge programs and competitive, market-based mortgage products.

Shropshire is a native of South Carolina, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina.
