Hogan Administration Announces Affordable Rental Housing Awards

The Hogan administration today announced the results of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development's 2020 application round for federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits and state Rental Housing Funds. Nearly $40 million in state funds and federal tax credits have been awarded to 18 projects, which will result in the creation or preservation of 2,144 high quality, energy-efficient, affordable rental units. This is the largest number of units financed through one application round in the history of the program in Maryland, surpassing the previous record of 1,837 units financed in 2019.

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces Fiscal Year 2021 Application Round for State Revitalization Programs

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is announcing a second Fiscal Year 2021 application round for two additional State Revitalization Programs. The National Capital Strategic Economic Development Fund ("NED") is a program for the greater National Capital Region of Maryland that provides competitive funding for strategic investment in local housing and businesses to encourage healthy, sustainable communities with a growing tax base and enhanced quality of life.

Energy and Housing Leaders Applaud Governor Phil Scott’s Investment in Weatherization

Energy and housing leaders applauded Governor Phil Scottโ€™s announcement today in his budget address to invest $25 million in weatherization, which will be leveraged to generate $68 million for projects across the state. Especially for low- and moderate-income Vermonters, weatherization makes housing more affordable by improving the energy efficiency of a home or building. The result is improved health of residents, greater comfort from cold and heat, reduced energy costs, and lower carbon emissions.

Utah Housing Corporation Announces Additional $5.3 Million Housing Credits to Advance Affordable Rental Housing Across the State

On March 18, 2020, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit the Salt Lake Valley, with an epicenter 6 km north-northeast of Magna, Utah. Because of this earthquake, the State of Utah was approved for a federal disaster declaration. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020, H.R. 144, signed into law by President Trump on December 27, 2020 allocated additional 9% Housing Credits, to several states affected by natural disasters in 2020. Utah received an additional $5,300,000 of Housing Credits.

Homeless Point-in-Time Count Planned for Jan. 27th

The North Dakota Continuum of Care (ND CoC) will conduct a Point-in-Time (PIT) Count of the people in the state who are experiencing homelessness on Jan. 27, 2021. โ€œThe data collected during the Point-in-Time Count is used to measure homelessness at a local, state and national level,โ€ said Dave Flohr, North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) executive director. โ€œThe information helps to identify strengths and service gaps, increase public awareness, measure progress, and assist local entities with system planning and responses.โ€

Affordability Extendedโ€ฏforโ€ฏLower-Incomeโ€ฏHouseholdsโ€ฏand Senior Citizens atโ€ฏDorchester Housing Community as a Result ofโ€ฏ$14.8โ€ฏMillionโ€ฏinโ€ฏMassHousingโ€ฏFinancing

MassHousingโ€ฏhas provided $14.8โ€ฏmillion inโ€ฏaffordable housing financing to School House Brookledge Cummins Limited Partnership, an affiliate of EAF Associates, toโ€ฏpreserve the affordability of theโ€ฏ90-unitโ€ฏSchool House Brookledge Cummins property in Dorchester. As a result of the MassHousing financing, affordability protections for lower-incomeโ€ฏhouseholdsโ€ฏand senior citizens living at the property will be extended by at leastโ€ฏ28โ€ฏyears.

Kansas Housing, Kansas Gas Service Partner to Provide Expanded Weatherization Services

Customers of Kansas Gas Service, a division of ONE Gas Inc., may qualify for up to $5000 in weatherization-related home repair assistance thanks to a new partnership between the energy company and Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC), the stateโ€™s housing finance agency. The funding, made possible through an $80,000 grant from the ONE Gas Foundation, will finance essential home repairs and upgrades to enable weatherization services.

Sen. Rachel Zenzinger Appointed to CHFAโ€™s Board of Directors

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to announce that Sen. Rachel Zenzinger has been appointed to serve on its board of directors. CHFAโ€™s 11-member board serves as the governing body of the organization and establishes policies to further its mission of affordable housing and community development. Sen. Zenzinger represents Senate District 19 in Jefferson County. She is a leading voice in the Colorado General Assembly for increased funding to advance the stateโ€™s diverse housing needs.

CHFA Hires New Community Relationship Managers Serving Western and Southwest Colorado

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to welcome Margie Joy and Christopher Lopez as its newest community relationship managers serving the Western Slope and southwest Colorado. In their roles, Joy and Lopez will help CHFA advance its work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and economic development. CHFA partners with the private, nonprofit, and public sectors to support affordable homeownership, the development and preservation of affordable rental housing, and help small- and medium-sized businesses access capital.
