Montgomery Girl Awarded in AHFA Statewide Art Contest Celebrating National Homeownership Month

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Sarai Wright, 6, of Montgomery has been named a winner in the Alabama Housing Finance Authority’s fourth annual National Homeownership Month art contest.
This year’s theme was “Sunshine and Smiles in Alabama Style.” Children ages 5–12 who live in Alabama were invited to showcase what makes the state a bright and happy place to call home. Sarai’s detailed entry earned her the First Place award for highlighting herself fishing in front of her home.
Sarai submitted the following caption with her entry: “Sunny days, big smiles, and simple joys like fishing by the pond near our happy home. A depiction of the warmth and pride of growing up in the Heart of Dixie.”
AHFA Executive Director Robert Strickland congratulated this year’s contest winners.
“For four years in a row, we have asked Alabama’s youngest artists to display their creativity during National Homeownership Month,” said Strickland. “Every June they continue to inspire us with their imaginative illustrations of the importance of home, family, and community.”
