Louisiana Housing Corporation to host Housing Roundtable

More than 150 housing professionals expected to attend

BATON ROUGE, LA — One hundred and fifty members of Louisiana’s affordable housing industry will convene Friday, November 17, 2017 from 9 a.m. to Noon for Louisiana Housing Corporation’s Housing Roundtable. The Roundtable will give thought leaders, from across the state, an opportunity to engage in a deeper discussion about affordable housing in an environment that encourages dynamic discourse and planned action.

”This is the first of many opportunities we will have to bring together diverse groups who are working independently to address Louisiana’s lack of affordable housing,” said Edselle Keith Cunningham, Jr., executive director of the LHC. ”The Housing Roundtable will help us better understand each otherā€™s challenges and discuss how we can engage in strategies to align our resources in a way that improves housing for the citizens of Louisiana.”

Jim Richardson, PhD, professor of Public Administration at Louisiana State University, will kickoff the Roundtable with a comprehensive review of Louisiana’s critical housing needs, based on a study of socioeconomic and demographic conditions.

Participants including local and state government officials, developers, lenders, realtors, funders, advocates and community leaders will then engage in a three-part dialogue that addresses housing needs, overcoming barriers, and improving community engagement.

”Our board is committed to improving access to affordable housing in Louisiana,” said Lloyd ”Buddy” Spillers, chairman of the LHC Board of Directors. ”We intend to engage and listen to the community as we work in partnership to address their housing needs.”

Registration for this event has closed. Only pre-registered attendees will be granted access. Parties interested in attending similar events should email communications@lhc.la.gov.
