Iowa Finance Authority Nationally Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
Des Moines – The Government Finance Officers Association recently awarded the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its fiscal year 2019 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“The attainment of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the third consecutive year is a significant accomplishment,” said Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Debi Durham. “This award represents IFA’s commitment to excellence in financial management, reporting and transparency on behalf of Iowans.”
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
The Iowa Legislature created the Iowa Finance Authority in 1975 to undertake programs to assist in the attainment of housing for low- and moderate-income Iowans. Since then, the Iowa Finance Authority’s role has grown to include affordable housing, water quality and beginning farmer programs.
