Iowa Lenders Recognized for Outstanding Efforts in Assisting Home Buyers

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Finance Authority today recognized the top Iowa lenders from throughout the state for their efforts in assisting first-time and repeat home buyers through Iowa Finance Authority’s programs in calendar year 2017.

The Iowa Finance Authority offers mortgage and down payment assistance programs for home buyers through a network of Participating Lenders. In 2017, local lenders assisted a total of 2,300 Iowans in purchasing a home using Iowa Finance Authority programs, the most assisted in a single year since 2008.

“I congratulate the lender partners recognized today for their dedication to assisting Iowans purchase a place they can call home,” said Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Dave Jamison. “These partnerships offer Iowans the convenience of working with their local lender to access Iowa Finance Authority’s unique homeownership programs.

Iowa home buyers currently have a wide-variety of opportunities available to them, including the newly announced 2018 Mortgage Credit Certificate Program, which allows eligible Iowans to purchase a home and reduce their federal income tax liability by up to $2,000 a year for the life of their mortgage. The program is expected to assist 900 Iowa home buyers and is available until funds are depleted.

The Iowa Finance Authority has partnered with the Iowa Association of REALTORS® to offer Iowans a chance to become wiser about common homeownership myths, programs and resources available to them as well as a chance to win a wise house package and other prizes until June 30 at IowaFinanceAuthority.gov.
