California Housing Finance Agency Reporting Wins Awards for Excellence

The Government Finance Officers Association recognizes CalHFA’s financial reporting

SACRAMENTO, CA — The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded its highest forms of recognition to the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA).

For the second consecutive year, CalHFA earned a pair of Certificates of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2017-2018 Comprehensive and Popular Annual Financial Reports, which lay out CalHFA’s financial status in rigorous, yet accessible detail.

“It’s an honor to once again be recognized for our commitment to transparency and accountability,” said Don Cavier, Chief Deputy Director of CalHFA. “Our financial reporting continues to be very important to our investors, the Legislature and the people of California, and we owe it to them to have that reporting be of the highest quality.”

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and groups to read the report.

You can read the Comprehensive and Popular Annual Financial Reports and other CalHFA documents on its website.

The California Housing Finance Agency was created in 1975 with the goal of helping more Californians find a place to call home. CalHFA is a self-supporting state agency that doesn’t rely on taxpayer dollars to fund our operations.
