Keynote Address: Breaking New Ground ā€” Making the Case for Affordable Housing

Across the country, efforts to address housing issues across the entire spectrum from homelessness services to affordable and attainable housing are gaining traction. The sheer scale of the challenges facing average Americans in finding decent housing is pushing these issues onto the national, regional, and local political agendas. Yet the deals being brokered to address these issues still only marginally get at the true need. So, even with this growing momentum, we need more firepower to move helpful policies, investments, and programs forward. We need stronger alignment across stakeholders in our communities, and we need greater public support. Building public and political will to move transformative solutions forward ā€” especially those that have an equity lens ā€” remains tough. Dr. Tiffany Manuel talks about efforts across the country to break new ground in how we make the case for housing and discusses the key recommendations that can help us take advantage of the current momentum in the field.
