More Than $1 Million Announced to Combat Homelessness in West Virginia

Home4Good Program funding to support 24 initiatives statewide
CHARLESTON, W.VA.—With a shared vision that homelessness in West Virginia is rare, brief and nonrecurring, the West Virginia Housing Development Fund in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh (FHLBank) announces $1.625 million to fund local housing initiatives through the Home4Good Program.
This funding, spread across West Virginia’s four Continuums of Care, will support 24 projects that will lead to housing stability for those who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. These awards will fund eviction and homeless prevention initiatives, rapid rehousing, shelter improvements, housing resiliency programs, housing navigators, outreach, and other related services.
“Continuums of Care are the boots on the ground who see first-hand the needs of those experiencing homelessness and are working to prevent homelessness in their communities,” said Nathan Testman, Interim Executive Director for the West Virginia Housing Development Fund. “This partnership with FHLBank allows us to stand beside those organizations and provide much-needed funding to support their efforts.”
“Our 2025 Home4Good contribution includes $1.375 million from FHLBank, provided in cooperation with our member financial institutions, in support of West Virginia organizations supporting our unhoused communities and those who need housing assistance,” said David G. Paulson, President and CEO, FHLBank. “WVHDF has been an important, long-term partner in both funding and administration of this program.”
The West Virginia Housing Development Fund and FHLBank first entered into a partnership in 2018 to bring the Home4Good Program to West Virginia. Since then, housing service providers within the Continuums of Care have received $9.8 million in funding assistance to support 137 projects across the state. FHLBank also supports the Home4Good Program in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
