In May 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Ashish Kumar as the Chief Information Officer, for California Housing Finance Agency. Under his leadership, Ashish is setting objectives and strategies for CalHFA IT, and streamlining internal operations. Currently, he is conducting an IT Maturity assessment to align IT initiatives to overall CalHFA business initiatives.
Prior to May 2019, Ashish was the Chief Information Security Officer for California Housing Finance Agency, where he assisted CalHFA in attaining in first ever Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 18 Service Organization Controls (Type 1) attestation. During his time as a CISO, he implemented a continuous Information Security Awareness Program, implemented a phishing test solution and oversaw compliance of all State and Federal Information Security laws, regulations, legislations, policies and procedures governing confidentiality and privacy of CalHFA. He also chaired CalHFA Security Governance Council, and advised executive management on policies, proposals, and strategic planning regarding security and IT risk management.
