Delaware State Housing Authority | Preventing Eviction for Low-Income Delawareans

In Delaware, over 5% of renters are evicted annually and there is an average of 14 eviction court filings per day. This means that roughly 16% of Delaware renters, or 1 out of every 6, face an eviction filing per year. Delaware’s Legal Aid organizations receive funding through DSHA's homelessness prevention tool, Home4Good, to support the Eviction Defense Program (EDP). The EDP directly addresses the justice gap many low-income Delawareans encounter when facing eviction.

Vermont Housing Finance Agency | Examining and Containing Rental Housing Development Cost Drivers

As in many other states, Vermont faces the twin challenges of limited sources of financing for affordable housing and increasing costs of development. In response, the Vermont Housing Finance Agency led an initiative to examine factors contributing to the cost of building and rehabilitating affordable rental housing and to identify and implement achievable strategies to contain or reduce total costs while promoting key public policy priorities and ensuring housing quality.

NYSHCR has reinvented the way it awards 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, speeding the process for developers, staff and the people of New York State. The new HCR Multifamily Finance 9% RFP is now a bi-annual competitive process used to award and subsidy financing to developers of affordable and supportive multifamily housing projects. The new process streamlines the review process, provides upfront technical assistance and effectively gets the funding out of the door faster.

The 2019 natural disaster of flooding heavily impacted the state of Nebraska. The estimated $1.3 billion in economic damages and the remaining effects are likely to have a long-term impact on the state. While the road to recovery will be long, the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority will be there every step of the way. This award application shows how we have responded so far.

Mississippi Home Corporation | Analysis of Impediments Statewide Collaboration

Never before in the United States has an entire state engaged in a comprehensive statewide collaborative effort to identify and analyze the nature and extent of barriers to fair housing. This statewide effort caught the attention of HUD officials nationwide and they recognized this collaboration as a model for other states to replicate. MHC with its partners was able to create the state’s most comprehensive housing analysis ever developed that has shaped policy changes statewide.
