    Oregon Housing and Community Services

    Salem - Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) today announced a funding opportunity for
    farmworker housing. The agency’s Farmworker Housing Tax Credit program for 2010 will make
    available $3,625,000 in 2010 tax credits ($7.25 million in eligible costs) to construct, acquire and/or
    rehabilitate housing for low- or very-low-income farmworkers.

    “Tax-credit supported housing projects benefit families, children, and the communities in which they
    live,” said OHCS Director Victor Merced. “Children do better in school because of the housing.
    Families become more stable. And, farmers and growers have a steady and permanent labor force.”

    DECEMBER 7 2009, COLUMBUS - Today, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA)
    launched its Office of Affordable Housing Research to facilitate the formation and
    implementation of affordable housing policy and initiatives throughout the state.

    “Access to secure housing is a basic human need and we strive to ensure all Ohioans have
    that opportunity,” said OHFA Executive Director Doug Garver. “With the creation of this new
    venture coupled with the OHFA Annual Plan, we will strategically identify and address
    affordable housing issues throughout Ohio.”

    New York Division of Housing and Community Renewal

    The NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) today announced the award of $27 million in stimulus funds that will help jumpstart seven developments that had been stalled by the economic downturn. The awards will help to build or rehabilitate 399 units of affordable housing for low income families, individuals with disabilities and frail elderly. To date, stimulus funds have helped to rehabilitate or build more than 4,100 units of housing.

    The National Council of State Housing Agencies has recognized a partnership between the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) and the Tennessee Department of Revenue with an award for Tennessee’s Community Investment Tax Credit.

    The award recognized the partnership for innovation and creativity in engaging the private sector in affordable housing. The special achievement category award was announced at the National Council’s annual conference in October.
