Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee, the Office of Energy Resources (OER) and RIHousing announced today the award of funds to develop highly energy efficient housing for low- and moderate-income Rhode Islanders. The demonstration program, Zero Energy for the Ocean State (ZEOS), is the result of a public-sector partnership between OER, RIHousing, and National Grid to explore innovative, replicable solutions to utilize cost saving, clean energy technologies in homes.

MassHousing has closed on $26.9 million in affordable housing financing to Trinity Financial to support the first phase of the redevelopment of the historic Marriner Mill complex in Lawrence. The $46.8 million mixed-income project will repurpose a former industrial building into 87 new apartment homes, including 21 workforce housing units, and advance the cityā€™s redevelopment of the 34-acre Arlington Mills Smart Growth Overlay District.

Murphy Administration Awards Over $23 Million in Federal Tax Credits

The Murphy Administration announced today it has awarded over $23.1 million in annual 9% federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), which will lead to the construction of more than 1500 new affordable apartments for families, seniors and residents with special needs ā€“ helping to build a stronger and more equitable New Jersey. These tax credits are expected to generate approximately $231.4 million in private investment that will finance the construction of 20 developments across 11 of the stateā€™s counties, producing a total of $450 million in new development.

FHFA Establishes New, Higher Affordable Housing Goals for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) on Wednesday published a final rule establishing updated affordable housing goals for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises). The rule sets higher benchmark levels for the single-family and multifamily housing goals and subgoals, as well as two new single-family subgoals. The new single-family goals will apply for years 2022 through 2024, while the multifamily goals apply only for 2022.
