CalHFA Welcomes New Board Member Cervantes
The California Housing Finance Agency is pleased to welcome James Cervantes to our Board of Directors following his appointment by Governor Gavin Newsom. He fills a vacant seat on the CalHFA Board with a term that goes through September 2025. The position requires Senate confirmation. Cervantes most recently worked as Managing Director in the Public Finance Department with Stifel, Nicolaus & Co from 2011 until his retirement in 2020.
Kentucky Housing Corporation Celebrates 50th Anniversary, Discusses Federal COVID Programs
Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) will kick off its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration at 3:30 p.m. February 8 at the Cottages of Frankfort, 871 Cardwell Lane, Frankfort, KY 40601, with an acclamation from Governor Andy Beshear. The event will have a question and answer period, where media can ask questions about the federal housing programs to assist those impacted by COVID-19. āThese programs are transformative for people who have struggled with the impacts of COVID-19,ā said Winston Miller, KHCās executive director and chief executive officer. āAt KHC, our focus is keeping Kentuckians safe and healthy in their homes.
Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Releases Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Report and Project C.O.R.E. Milestone Report
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today released its Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Report. The departmentās $2.3 billion investment provided an economic impact of approximately $4.8 billion for the state, including $79 million in state and local taxes. More than 22,000 full-time equivalent jobs with $1.1 billion in wages and salaries were created, and each dollar of state funds from the departmentās programs, projects, and activities generated $25 in economic impact.

Hogan Administration Announces Second Phase of Emergency Rental Assistance Program Funding
Secretary Kenneth C. Holt today announced that the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will allocate an additional $204 million for the continuation of the state's Emergency Rental Assistance Program. This second phase of federal funding will support local efforts to assist tenants whose ability to pay rent has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the funds provided to DHCD, more than $148 million was allocated directly to Maryland counties and Baltimore City.

MSHDA Awarded Largest-Ever Housing Counseling Grant
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) today announced it is receiving a $1.087 million housing counseling grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funds will be distributed to 24 HUD-approved housing counseling agencies across Michigan to support their critical work to stem the tide of the COVID-19 pandemicās impact on housing, maintain housing stability by helping families with foreclosure and rental eviction prevention, and give residents tools to make informed housing choices.
NC Homeowner Assistance Fund Opens Statewide
The NC Homeowner Assistance Fund is now accepting applications from North Carolina homeowners whose finances were impacted by the pandemic and who need assistance with housing-related expenses. Established through the 2021 American Rescue Plan to prevent mortgage delinquencies, defaults, displacements and foreclosures for homeowners experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Fund offers assistance of up to $40,000 for qualified homeowners as long as funding is available.
