MassHousing Closes on $5.5 Million in Financing to Create Affordable and Workforce Housing at 181 Chestnut Street in Chelsea
MassHousing has closed on a total of $5.5 million in affordable and workforce housing financing to the non-profit The Neighborhood Developers, Inc. (TND), to transform a formerly market-rate rental property at 181 Chestnut Street in Chelsea into a mixed-income housing community. The MassHousing financing will allow TND to extend long-term affordability to households across a wide range of incomes, from very-low-income households to middle-income households.
CHFA Becomes First State Housing Finance Agency to Purchase an eNote
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) has become the first state housing finance agency (HFA) in the nation to electronically accept, purchase, and deliver an electronic mortgage note (eNote) to the secondary market. CHFA began its eNote initiative in 2020 to provide greater efficiency to its mortgage process. CHFA’s first eNote transaction was purchased from Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation and delivered to Fannie Mae.
Funding Available for Housing Development
South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is inviting developers to submit applications for funding from the Housing Trust Fund (HTF) program. The Housing Trust Fund, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides financing to developers and/or owners to expand the supply of decent, safe and affordable housing for extremely low income South Dakotans. Funding is targeted to 30 percent of the Area Median Income and below. This funding source has $4 million available for this application round.
Financial Assistance for Renters and Landlords Now Available
The State of Georgia received $552 million from U.S. Treasury's Federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program to provide relief to individuals, families, and landlords whose finances have been negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) will administer the State of Georgia Rental Assistance Program (GRA), and the online portal to determine eligibility and submit applications is now available.
Hogan Administration Announces Fiscal Year 2021 State Revitalization Program Awards
Today Governor Larry Hogan announced awardees from the Fiscal Year 2021 application round for three state revitalization programs administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. The Community Legacy program, the Strategic Demolition Fund, and the Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative will provide more than $27 million to 157 projects in 19 counties and Baltimore City that support community development and economic growth.
New Allocation of Housing Assistance Available for Households Affected by COVID-19
South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is now accepting applications for a new allocation of funds to help with housing assistance – rent, mortgage and/or utilities – for households affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. “After helping more than 3,000 households with the first round of assistance, SDHDA recognizes that families are still struggling with uncertainties,” said Executive Director Lorraine Polak. “This additional funding helps cover families’ basic needs so they can meet their other financial obligations, too.”
MassHousing Awards $72,750 for Affordable Sober Housing to Support Women and Men in Salisbury and Amesbury
MassHousing has awarded a total of $72,750 in grant funding to Link House, Inc. to modernize 65 affordable sober housing units in Salisbury and Amesbury for women and men in recovery. The grants come from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing that helps nonprofits create or preserve affordable sober housing in Massachusetts for individuals in recovery.
Ribbon-Cutting for The Station at Grant Avenue Affordable Housing Development
New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) Executive Director Melanie R. Walter today joined Plainfield Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, City Council President Steve Hockaday, Economic Development & Policy Director Valerie Jackson, South Second Street Redevelopment, LLC, funding partners and community members for the ribbon-cutting for The Station at Grant Avenue, a new 90-unit, 100% affordable housing development in the City of Plainfield, NJ, financed in part by NJHMFA.
State of Maryland Designates New Sustainable Community in Caroline County
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced that the Town of Goldsboro has been named Maryland's newest Sustainable Community. With this designation, Goldsboro becomes the sixth Sustainable Community in Caroline County and the 122nd in the state. The Sustainable Community program provides local governments with a revitalization "toolbox" of state resources including programs, loans, grants and tax credits that can support brick and mortar community projects, small business development, job creation, and tourism.
CHFA Names Cindy Adams as Controller/Director of Accounting
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to announce Cindy Adams has been named its controller/director of accounting. Adams leads CHFA’s accounting and financial reporting functions with direct responsibility and oversight to ensure CHFA conforms to generally accepted accounting principles. Adams previously served as CHFA’s financial reporting manager and brings more than 20 years of experience in the areas of accounting leadership, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting and overall fiscal management.
