CHFA Announces 2021 Round One Housing Tax Credit Awards
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to announce 13 developments will be awarded a reservation of federal Housing Tax Credits to support the new construction of 882 affordable apartments. These developments will seek to address various housing needs in Colorado, including those of veterans, formerly homeless individuals and families, and older adults. CHFA received 25 applications for federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in its first allocation round of the year.
Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces Fiscal Year 2022 Application Round for State Revitalization Programs
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced the Fiscal Year 2022 application round for five State Revitalization Programs will open on May 17. These programs offer funding to support local housing, community and economic development and other revitalization projects. They are part of the department’s commitment to helping the state’s local governments and nonprofit agencies achieve their community revitalization and economic development goals.
PHFA Recognizes Its Top Lending Partners for 2020
The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency today honored its top lending partners for 2020 during its annual homeownership awards event, which was held virtually this year due to the pandemic. These lenders provide a great service to Pennsylvania homebuyers by working with them through the application, processing, and closing of affordable PHFA home loans. In addition to protecting the health of all event attendees, the virtual event allowed the agency to invite all its lending partners to participate this year.
MassHousing Closes on $21.2 Million in Financing for the Refinancing and Extensive Rehabilitation of the 201-Unit Bergen Circle in Springfield
MassHousing has closed on $21.2 million in affordable housing financing to The Michaels Organization for the refinancing and rehabilitation of the 201-unit Bergen Circle housing community in Springfield, where affordability will also be preserved for lower- and moderate-income residents. Michaels, which has taken over ownership and management of Bergen Circle, plans approximately $17 million in property renovations to the eight-building housing community in the McKnight neighborhood of Springfield.
Mainehousing Awards $3.2 Million to Address Youth Homelessness
MaineHousing has awarded $3.2 million to organizations to address youth homelessness in Maine. Penquis, Preble Street, Shaw House and Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP), and Volunteers of America: Northern New England were awarded funding to create new and innovative programs to end and prevent youth homelessness. “As we work to address and prevent all forms of homelessness, this work is especially important,” said Daniel Brennan, Director of MaineHousing.
Vermont’s COVID Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program Re-Opens Next Week
The Vermont program that helps homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage or property taxes during the COVID-19 pandemic will re-open on Monday, May 3, 2021. The Mortgage Assistance Program, will provide grants covering up to 12 months of past due mortgage payments and property taxes for eligible homeowners. Funded through the federal CARES Act, the program operated first in July through December 2020, providing 636 Vermont households with grants averaging $6,000. With average monthly mortgage payments of $1,200, most of these households owed three months or more of payments and the majority were in a forbearance.
RIHousing Recognizes Top Lender and Realtor Partners
RIHousing today announced its 2020 top performing lender and real estate partners after recognizing them during the agency’s annual Spring Homebuying event earlier this week. Held virtually this year, the event celebrated those partners that helped RIHousing achieve its second highest mortgage lending volume in its 48-year history. RIHousing recognized industry partners for their exemplary performance and commitment to helping first-time homebuyers, especially when faced with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
NJHMFA Celebrates Middlesworth Road Supportive Housing Groundbreaking
New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA), along with local officials and stakeholders, joined today in celebrating the groundbreaking ceremony for Middlesworth Road Supportive Housing, serving persons with developmental disabilities. ADTI Housing Corp., the housing subsidiary of Alternatives, Inc. completed renovations on the single-family home located in Hillsborough Township, Somerset County, New Jersey to best serve individuals with developmental disabilities.
Governor Cuomo Announces $98 Million to Fund Over 1,000 Affordable Homes Across New York
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced more than $98 million has been awarded to create 1,054 affordable homes in 20 separate developments across New York. This funding will help revitalize communities, fight homelessness, and expand access to energy-efficient, affordable housing opportunities. "As we rebuild from the pandemic, these awards are further proof of our unwavering commitment to ensuring all New Yorkers have a safe, stable and affordable place to live," Governor Cuomo said.
Kansas Housing Awards Nearly $134,000 in Poverty Reduction Services, Resources
Eight nonprofit community organizations across the state received a combined $133,968 to help low-income Kansans achieve stability and access economic opportunities. The awards, provided through federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) discretionary funding, will support initiatives ranging from contactless grocery delivery in a food desert in Leavenworth County, to professional development services for survivors of domestic violence in Sedgwick County, to housing and employment resources for rural youth aging out of foster care.
