The July edition of “The Down Payment Report,” the monthly newsletter of online home-buying assistance aggregator Down Payment Resource, includes an interview with NCSHA Executive Director Stockton Williams and an article examining how HFAs are meeting the demand for down payment assistance in their states.
In the interview, Williams discusses the various ways HFAs utilize down payment assistance to assist first-time homebuyers and highlights several HFAs whose down payment programs have effectively addressed the needs of their states’ markets. Williams also touches on the shortage of affordable single-family homes and NCSHA’s efforts to secure funding for HOME and other federal housing programs.
A separate article (see page 3) reports state HFA loan production has increased substantially in several states over the last year due to increased demand for down payment assistance. HFAs featured in this article include California Housing Finance Agency, North Dakota Housing Finance Agency, RIHousing, and Tennessee Housing Development Authority.
