On the Passing of DCHFA Executive Director Todd Lee

Published on January 3, 2020

Todd LeeIt is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Todd A. Lee, Executive Director and CEO of the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency and NCSHA Board Director.

“Todd was a cherished colleague and friend to his peers in housing finance around the country,” said California HFA Executive Director and NCSHA Board Chair Tia Boatman Patterson. “We will all deeply miss his acumen and his compassion.”

Todd took the helm of DCHFA in April 2016. Under his leadership, more than $1 billion have been invested to create and preserve affordable housing and support homeownership opportunities in the District of Columbia.

Todd was elected to the NCSHA Board of Directors in 2018 and 2019 and served on the 2019 Strategic Planning Task Force.

“Todd’s energy and vision made him and the agency he led one of the most admired in the country,” said NCSHA Executive Director Stockton Williams. “Just last fall, DCHFA’s management innovation earned it the association’s highest award.”

Before joining DCHFA, Todd spent 15 years with Fannie Mae, where he served as vice president for multifamily equity in the Multifamily Division’s community investments unit. He previously held senior leadership positions with Bank of America’s Real Estate Structured Debt Group, Chevy Chase Bank’s Real Estate Banking Group (now Capital One), and NationBank’s Community Development Lending Group (now Bank of America).

He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies and was a member of the Urban Land Institute and District of Columbia Building Industry Association.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire state housing finance agency community are with Todd’s family and his team at DCHFA.
