Louisiana Housing Corporation Hosts State’s  First All-Inclusive Housing Conference

Event Will Bring Together Housing Experts and Advocates from Across the State

BATON ROUGE, LA —The Louisiana Housing Corporation will host the state’s first all-inclusive housing conference, Connections, on April 2-4, 2019, at the Hilton Hotel in Downtown Baton Rouge.

The event will bring together more than 400 housing professionals for a unique opportunity to connect with housing experts and advocates from across the state to discuss pressing housing issues.

“Housing is the most important factor in our lives, and it doesn’t exist in an island,” LHC Executive Director E. Keith Cunningham, Jr. said. “We created this conference to bring together everyone across the state who is committed to our shared vision of safe, affordable, energy-efficient housing.”

The conference will focus on building thriving and resilient communities that improve the lives of Louisiana residents. NFL veteran, Hall of Famer, and New Orleans native Aeneas Williams will deliver keynote remarks on the Spirit of Community.

Connections will officially kick off April 2 with the Housing First Roundtables, which are designed to connect thought leaders from varied disciplines to share information about barriers, examine resources and talk about holistic community-driven affordable housing solutions.

On April 3, attendees will participate in a series of breakout sessions that include housing development, homeownership, energy empowerment, and solutions to end homelessness.

The conference will close April 4 with a Community Roundup panel led by state agency officials.The Roundup will provide the backdrop for a rich dialogue about the need and value of collaboration between state agencies, while providing a platform for open dialogue, to share thoughts and ideas, ask questions and learn best practices about improving affordable housing in the State of Louisiana.

Conference sessions will also offer the opportunity for real estate agents, social workers and lawyers to earn continuing education credits.
