District of Columbia Building Industry Association To Host Annual Achievement Awards Dinner

WASHINGTON, DC – On May 9th, 2019, the District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA) will host its annual Achievement Awards Dinner. Recipients this year of Annual Achievement Awards include Todd A. Lee, Executive Director & CEO District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (Government Sector Award), The Team of the Entertainment and Sports Arena at St. Elizabeths East (Community Impact Award), and Brookfield Properties (Developer of the Year). For the past 35 years, DCBIA has presented the leading real estate development industry Achievement Awards to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the City through innovative economic development, revitalization and/or extraordinary community services. Winners will receive their awards at this annual black-tie gala.

GOVERNMENT SECTOR AWARD
Celebrating its 40th year, the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency is a uniquely created and organized financial intermediary and administrator of affordable housing programs and homeownership resources in the District of Columbia. Since 2016, Todd A. Lee, Executive Director & CEO, DCHFA has led the innovation of this agency, investing approximately $1 billion in the creation and preservation of, affordable multifamily rental and workforce housing units in addition to supporting homeownership all over the city.

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD
The first major piece of redevelopment of St. Elizabeths East campus in Washington, DC – the Entertainment and Sports Arena – delivered in September 2018. Through a partnership with the DC Government, Events DC, the Wizards and Mystics owner Monument Sports & Entertainment, the Community Benefits Coalition, and other stakeholders, the 4,200-seat Arena and state-of-the-art training facility will be a catalytic driver to significantly expand the Congress Heights neighborhood’s, Ward 8’s, the city’s and region’s arts, cultural, entertainment and civic programming for residents and visitors alike.

DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR

In the spirit of encouraging the next generation of real estate professionals in the District, DCBIA will also announce the 2019 Young Leader Achievement Award winner live at the event.
