Job Description
Community Lending and Investment specializes in helping developers and investors take advantage of tax credit opportunities by investing in Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) for multifamily apartments and Historic Tax Credit properties. For more than 20 years, Wells Fargo has been investing in tax credits and is one of the few banks active in both direct and fund equity investments, increasing our opportunity to provide developers with needed capital.

This position is for a Tax Credit Analyst who will be assisting a team of asset managers in managing the Bank's equity investments in tax credit affordable housing.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and analyzing data of portfolio statistics and trends, benefits schedules, legal documents, financial statements and tax returns.
  • Updating the Bank's internal property database and document management system.
  • Assisting in the review and processing of capital calls from fund managers.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of consent requests from fund managers and developers including loan refinancing / conversions and property sales valuations.
  • Through this position the candidate will develop an understanding of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) regulations and compliance requirements along with real estate fund structures, and the obligations of both the Limited Partners and General Partners in various multifamily property partnership structures.
  • Develop an understating of portfolio risk and risk mitigation strategies. Perform ad-hoc data query requests.
  • The candidate will assist the team in ensuring continued compliance with the policies and procedures established for our line of business.
  • The Tax Credit Analyst may also be responsible for a small portfolio of assets.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial mortgage credit analysis experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
