WESTLAND, Mich. - Danielle Duggar’s Westland home has been spared from an auction for now. Bank of America foreclosed on the home.

“It’s a big relief. I was regretting having to go through the process over again in 15 days, so this has just made my life a lot easier,” she said.

Duggar lost her job when she returned from maternity leave, and she and her husband fell behind in mortgage payments.

However, she says trying to get a mortgage modification from Bank of America has been frustrating. The bank is one of the biggest mortgage holders in Michigan, but so far has not participated in a state program aimed at helping people such as Duggar.

In an e-mail to FOX 2 News, a Bank of America spokesperson indicated ongoing contacts with the Michigan State Housing Developing Authority with an eye toward eventually participating in the “Hardest Hit Fund” program to prevent foreclosures.

“I think with so many people losing their homes and going through the foreclosure, you would think that they would be the first ones to jump on that. I can’t believe that they’re not involved in that ‘Hardest Hit’ as of yet,” Duggar said.

Bank of America got billion of dollars in federal TARP money.

“All of us, all the taxpayers are paying them to do this and they’re not doing anything,” said Duggar.

She encourages others facing foreclosures to fight.

“Call whoever you have to call. Don’t ever give up because Bank of America doesn’t understand it’s our homes. It’s not their homes. It’s just a piece of property to them. To us, it’s our home. It’s our life. It’s everything to us,” Duggar said.
