Today, the Obama Administration announced a plan to expand its Housing Finance Agency (HFA) Innovation Fund for the Hardest-Hit Housing Markets (the Hardest-Hit Fund) by providing $2 billion to HFAs in 18 jurisdictions that have experienced sustained unemployment rates at or above the national average over the last 12 months, through June 2010. The HFAs receiving the new funding include nine of those already participating in the Hardest-Hit Fund (California, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, and South Carolina), as well as the HFAs of Alabama, DC, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Tennessee. - February 19, 2010
Today, President Obama announced a plan to provide $1.5 billion in Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) funds to five state Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) to help them stem home foreclosures with programs they design to modify negative equity mortgages and provide emergency homeowner loans, among other strategies. - January 13, 2010
