The U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development ranks Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency fourth in the nation among Public Housing Agencies for the total number of individuals it has helped transition from its Section 8 Rental Assistance Program to its Section 8 Homeownership Program since the start of its program.

The Michigan Main Street Center, a part of the Specialized Technical Assistance and Revitalization Strategy (STARS) Division, in partnership with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) at the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), recently unveiled renderings for proposed façade improvements for three buildings in downtown Portland. The buildings are: 108-110 Kent Street (Duff Chadwicks & Associates), 123-125 Kent Street (Around the Block Quilt Shop and Donna Marie's Studio of Dance), and 136-140 Kent Street (PCMI-West).

New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) Commissioner Lori Grifa today announced that the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s (HMFA) Board approved a financing commitment from the state’s Special Needs Housing Trust Fund to a non-profit mental health organization to develop Marilyn’s Hope, a community-based residential facility in Morris County for mental health consumers.

The South Carolina Housing Trust Fund, administered by the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC State Housing), provides financial assistance to eligible nonprofit organizations for the development of affordable housing for low to very low-income families or individuals. The SC State Housing Board of Commissioners recently approved more than $1 million in Housing Trust Fund awards.

Two programs for persons living with HIV/AIDS in Rhode Island will continue to receive funding over the next three years. The grants, offered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS Program (HOPWA), will provide service-enriched homes for dozens of families, allowing them to manage their illnesses while receiving critically-needed support services.

The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) has received an award of $1 Million from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that will help provide permanent housing for homeless veterans. The award will support 100 additional vouchers through HUD's Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) initiative.

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) has promoted Steve Johnson to director of commercial lending. In his new role, Steve will lead CHFA’s multifamily lending, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) allocation, and small business lending teams.

Single mom Jamalyn Sexton moved into her newly-constructed home, which was financed under the Rural Development 502 Pilot Program. She and her son are the first residents at the Highland Meadows. The units were developed through a partnership between Highland Community Builders and Community Works in West Virginia. The development is part of a plan by Highland Community Builders to increase the amount of affordable housing in the area.
