On June 30, NCSHA sent a letter to the Members of the House Appropriations Transportation-HUD Subcommittee reminding them of NCSHA’s priorities for the FY 2011 appropriations cycle. The Subcommittee is scheduled to mark up their appropriations bill on July 1.

The letter outlines the following spending priorities:

  • Fund the HOME Investment Partnerships program at $2 billion;
  • Provide Section 8 funding for vouchers and project-based contracts adequate to fully fund all authorized vouchers and to renew all expiring project-based contracts for a full year;
  • Ensure that HFA voucher administrators and project-based contract administrators continue in their critical roles and that they are adequately compensated for it;
  • Fund new unrestricted incremental vouchers in FY 2011; and
  • Include necessary resources for HUD and state HFAs to fulfill HUD’s new Housing Credit tenant data collection requirements.

NCSHA encourages HFA members to reach out to their delegation in support of these priorities. A markup in the Senate Transportation-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee has not been scheduled.
