The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) recently announced that AHFC's Home Energy Rebate Program is one of the exceptional state-led energy-efficiency programs in the United States. ACEEE recognized a total of just 18 top programs from 14 states. AHFC's Home Energy Rebate Program received one of 10 honorable mentions awarded.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) opened nominations for a second round of Smart Sites today. Local municipal and county governments are eligible to nominate Smart Sites. This second round builds on the success of the initial 15 Smart Sites announced by Governor Martin O’Malley in June 2009. Smart Sites focus public and private investment and green building practices in projects that encourage smart growth and revitalization in existing Maryland communities.

Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) recently launched a new Web site aimed at encouraging green building practices in affordable housing across the state of Florida. The site, www.floridahousing.org/GreenBuilding, is another example of Florida Housing’s recent push to “Go Green.”
